Snoqualmie Falls BW

A couple weeks ago on a nice and sunny falld day we made a trip out to Snoqualmie Falls, Washington. I haven’t been there in about 7 years and was sad to see that it’s now a lot harder to get down to the base of the falls. Don’t worry, I decided to be a good example for the kids and stayed up on the boardwalk.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. – John 1:1-2

Christine Falls

I cruised around Mount Rainier National Park back in October and my first stop was Christine Falls. I’ve driven over these falls numerous times but I’ve never stopped to check it out. I’m glad I did as it is pretty impressive with the bridge coming over top if it. There was even a couple that had just gotten married right near where I took this shot. What a back drop that must have been!

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost – Luke 19:10

Cascading Falls

Last weekend we hiked the Silver Falls Trail in Mount Rainier National Park. I’ve done this trail a few times now but there’s always something new to shoot like this waterfall. I’ve shot it before but not looking down it as it cascades into the Ohanapecosh River.

“When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things” – Mark 6:34

Stevens Creek

This is Stevens Creek in Mount Rainier National Park. The hike to here is about 1.4 miles making it 2.8 mile out and back. The beginning of the trail is fairly steep and you’ll have to it at the end of the hike so make sure you save some water for the end. It’s not too bad though. My four year old did it.

“On hearing this, Jesus said to them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners” – Mark 2:17

Alexander Falls

Located just before Whistler Olympic Park is Alexander Falls. You don’t to do any hiking for this one. You just park and walk a few feet to a lookout and there’s the falls. I didn’t spend too much time there but I’m sure there’s a trail to the bottom of the falls somewhere. Check it out if you’re in the area.

“Be silent in the Lord’s presence, all people everywhere, for he is being moved to action in his holy dwelling place” – Zechariah 2:13

Brandywine Falls

Here’s one of Brandywine Falls in Whistler, Canada. The falls are pretty easy to get to from the vantage point I took the picture below from. I think it was about 10 minutes from the parking lot and that’s at a 3 year old’s pace. I really wanted to get down to the bottom to photograph the falls but I didn’t know if there was a trail and it probably wouldn’t have been a good idea to take a pregnant wife and 3 year old bushwacking. So, I kept it safe and photograph the falls from up above where I could see a nice rainbow.

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him. I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king” – Daniel 2:20-23

Glacier Basin Trail Falls

We were up in Mount Rainier National Park yesterday hiking the Glacier Basin Trail. We needed to do something short that my 3 year old could do so we were going to take the Glacier Basin Trail to the Emmons Moraine trail (about 1.4 miles one way). If you’ve done the hike before there’s a bridge you take to cross the White River to get to the Emmons Moraine. We’ll the bridge wasn’t there. Not sure when it had been washed out or when it will be replaced. I didn’t really see any good places for us to cross the river but then it would have been difficult to get up to the moraine with a little one hiking, one on my back, and a pregnant wife. So, we headed back on the Glacier Basin Trail and hiked a little further until my 3 year old ran out of gas. She made it back fine since it was pretty much downhill all the way back. Along the way we hiked past some pretty nice waterfalls. Here’s one of them.

“I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” – Isaiah 61:10

Salmon Falls

I was over at Salmon Falls which is about half an hour East of Chinook Pass in Washington last fall. There was a nice rock that I could stand on to get pretty close to the falls without getting wet. Here’s one of the shots.

“Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal” – Isaiah 26:4

Victor Falls

Up until recently you wouldn’t have known about Victor Falls in Washington unless you were local to the area. It’s about 25 yards off the roadside but it’s at a spot where you normally go zooming by a big turn and you don’t even hear it. I found out about it from a friend of mine a few years ago but now there’s a city park so I’m sure more people know about it now. Getting to the bottom of it is a little tricky as the hillside is steep and usually wet and muddy. There are ropes to help you but it can still be difficult when lugging camera gear so be careful.

“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans” – Proverbs 16:3

A Little Waterfall

Here’s one from back in May when we hiked to Silver Falls from the Ohanapecosh campground in Mount Rainier National Park. It’s about a 3 mile loop to Silver Falls and back. Along the way you’ll come across a bunch of little waterfalls like this especially if you do the hike in May/June.

“The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made” – Psalm 145:8-9
