Flowers and Fence

Some more flowers from Mount Vernon, Washington. In the original photo I had captured some guys pot belly on the very left edge of the photo which I thought was funny but distracting. All you could see was the belly. No face, arms, or feet.

“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory” – Matthew 24:30

Fields of Tulips

Here’s one from the tulip fields from Mount Vernon, Washington. Hope you had a chance to check them out this year (if you’re in the area).

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” – Matthew 24:14

Popcorn Blossom

I’m not sure what type of tree this is but you see them all over the place in Washington. I think their blossoms look like popcorn.

“‘Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?’ Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” – Matthew 22:36-39

Red and Pink Tulips

Here are some tulips from the Mount Vernon, Washington area. Tons to photograph in that area during springtime.

“Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” – Matthew 20:26-28

Just Missed It

There’s this street I’ve driven by a bunch of times lined by cherry trees that I’ve often thought I need to come back when the trees are blooming. Last Sunday there was a break in the rain, which we’ve had a lot of lately, so I grabbed my gear and headed out to that cherry blossom street. Unfortunately I was about a week too late. Maybe next year or even in the fall. I’ll be back…

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” – Matthew 11:28-30

Bursting With Life

It was neat being at the University of Washington when the cherry blossom trees were at full bloom. It seemed like blossoms were bursting out of everywhere and if you touched one long enough one would pop out of you.

“The fruit of the righteous is like a tree producing life, and the one who wins souls is wise.” – Proverbs 11:30

Cherry Blossom Bokeh

The weather can be so schizophrenic in the Spring. Raining and hailing one minute and then sunny and blue skies. Definitely keeps things interesting and exploding with life. For this shot I was looking up into a cherry tree. I knew I wanted to isolate one of the cherry blossoms so I chose a wide aperture and zoomed in as far as I could. I hope you’re enjoying that crazy springtime weather!

“For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!” – Romans 5:10

One More Turn

I’ve only been to the University of Washington (UW) once and that was last fall. While I was there I thought I saw some cherry trees in this one area which would be awesome to see when they blossomed. Well, last weekend there was sun in the forecast so I decided to head up to (UW) to check things out. When I got there I drove by the spot where I thought the cherry trees would be and I was sadly disappointed to see nothing there. There weren’t any cherry trees. So much for my dendrology skills. I was almost ready to leave the campus and head somewhere else when I decided to take one more turn.

I drove toward the middle of campus and I noticed a lot of photographers walking along the street. UW is a pretty nice campus so I thought it was just because it was nice out and people were doing photo shoots and such. Then, out of the corner of my eye I saw it. White blooms farther than the eye could see. I had found it and so did a million other people. I guess it is no secret but it was new to me and it was spectacular.
