Old Farm Structures

Here are some old farm structures taken near my friend’s wheat farm in Eastern Washington. I would guess that the building straight ahead with the sunken roof and the barn to the right were the original buildings and then the other two structures were added on. I’m sure the rodents and snakes are enjoying the extra space now.

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” – Matthew 5:8

That Old Barn

I’ll be heading to Montana again this summer which means I’ll spend some time in Glacier National Park and drive by this old barn again. I figured this barn had been abandoned a long time ago yet when I was there last year there was just a cow still hanging around. Not a couple cows but just one. After getting the evil eye a couple times I figured this cow wasn’t one to mess with so I kept my distance, took my shots, and slowly walked back to my car making sure to keep my eye on the cow. I didn’t want to take any chances. This cow might have been the only cow around for a reason. Besides my wife and kid were in the car at the time and I didn’t want it to come to fisticuffs in front of them 🙂

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” – Isaiah 41:10

Dreams of My Farmer

After watching that farmer super-bowl commercial I was reminded of a trip I made last March to a friend’s family wheat farm in Eastern Washington.

Front Row Seat

Here’s a nice place to sit, relax, and watch the world go by. This is Two Medicine Lake in Glacier National Park, Montana.

Wonderland Bear Grass

After coming out of Mystic Lake on our way to Mowich Lake from Sunrise (a 22 mile day hike on the Wonderland Trail) we came up upon some switchbacks that provided nice views of Mt Rainier. That’s the nice thing about taking pictures when hiking is that you get time to catch your breath and enjoy the scenery while taking a picture. The only problem is if you hike with people that don’t take pictures you end up playing catch up most of the time. That’s okay though. You’ll get a better work out.

Longmire Ranger Station

The Rampart Ridge hike starts right near the Longmire Ranger station. We attempted to snowshoe to Rampart Ridge but had to turn back because it was getting too late. Don’t worry. There’s a hike to Indian Henry’s Hunting ground that I’d like to do this summer and part of it is on the Rampart Ridge trail so I’d be able to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

The picture below is of Longmire Ranger Station in Mount Rainier National Park and it kind of reminds me of The Shining for some reason.

EarlyMorningSun

The Kalaloch campground is located on the Olympic Penninsula and is about an hour and half south of the Hoh Rainforest. It’s on the bluff overlooking a huge white sand beach. At night the crashing waves drown out the noise of the other campsites, which gives a more secluded feeling. It definitely made my top camping spot list.
