Cape Arago Lighthouse

Cape Arago Lighthouse in Oregon. There was a bridge to the lighthouse but it was removed in 2013 when the island the lighthouse sits on was given back to the Confederates Tribes. Too bad you can’t get up close to it but still a cool lighthouse.

“Jesus replied. ‘But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven'” – Matthew 26:64

Lighthouse in the Trees

Here’s another one of the Grays Harbor Lighthouse. You can climb 135 stairs to get to the top and I believe there’s a guide up there to give you some history. I was informed by a volunteer that the fresnal lens is turned on a couple times a year which might be cool to check out.

“Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it” – Matthew 10:39

Grays Harbor Lighthouse

During our day trip to Westport a few weeks ago we made a stop by the Grays Harbor Lighthouse. The lighthouse is the tallest in Washington state and the third tallest on the west coast. The weird part about this lighthouse is that it isn’t on the shore or on an overlook like most lighthouses. I was curious as to why this is so and read that it used to be 400ft off the shore but due to the accretion (beach growth) caused by the jetty built at Grays Harbor it is now about 3,000ft offshore. So there you have it.

“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell” – Matthew 10:28

Kilauea Lighthouse

I’ve been to the Kilauea Lighthouse a couple times now but I have yet to pay the money to actually go on the lighthouse grounds and check it out. I guess I’m too cheap but the vantage point from the parking lot is pretty cool. Tons of birds and I think during the winter some pretty big waves come ripping right through here.

“But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners” – Matthew 9:13

Lighthouse Path

Here’s one from the North Head Lighthouse in Washington taken along the loop trail to the lighthouse and back. It’s a pretty short and easy loop. Check it out.

“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” – Matthew 5:44

Disappointment’s What You Make It

I sat in this spot for probably half an hour. Waiting for the right moment when I could get a shot of the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse with no people in it. It seemed as though right when there’d be a gap in people someone would stand right in front of the lighthouse. All I needed was a measly 2 seconds. I almost got it but you’ll notice a couple people just to the right of the lighthouse. They’re pretty small in the picture so it wasn’t a big deal. But still…

“‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty” – Zechariah 4:6

North Head Lighthouse

Located in Washington just two miles from the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse is the North Head Lighthouse. The lighthouse is easy to get to with plenty of parking (unlike the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse). The path to the lighthouse is fairly flat and you pass by the lighthouse keepers house which is now a vacation rental. This would be a great place to stay and head out to the lighthouse in the early morning or late at night to get some cool shots. Don’t forget to pass this house of light up if you head down to Cape Disappointment.

“Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity” – Joel 2:13

Cape Disappointment Lighthouse

The Cape Disappointment Lighthouse is located on the Southern border of Washington near the Columbia River. If you do go there just be aware that the parking lot is pretty small. We had a to wait a while before we could finally find a spot. From there it’s a short hike which is fairly steep but the steepest part is paved so it’s not bad. You can also park down by Waikiki Beach and hike up. Anyway, when I was there it was overcast so I decided to process this photo a little differently.

“Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand” – Daniel 12:10

Posts at Browns Point

Here’s one from last year at Browns Point Lighthouse near Tacoma, Washington. The style of the lighthouse isn’t my favorite but the grounds and views are pretty nice. You can even rent out the fully restored lighthouse cottage located on the property where you get to be an honorary lighthouse keeper. According to the website the keeper’s duties include raising and lowering the flag and laundering your linens. I’ve always wanted to launder my linens. Sign me up 🙂

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?” – Isaiah 58:6

Dofflemeyer Point Lighthouse

Last weekend I was at Dofflemeyer Point Lighthouse, WA for sunset. It was overcast and rainy but I decided to head out there anyway hoping for an amazing sunbreak. Unfortunately that didn’t happen but I had a good time exploring a new area. I also met a fellow photographer so that was cool.

“This is what the LORD says– Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God” – Isaiah 44:6
