Barn Claw

I was cruising around The Claw (Enumclaw, Washington) a couple evenings ago and spotted this nice red barn with Mount Rainier in the distance.

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you – Luke 6:37-38

Rural Sumner

Another one of some rural property in Sumner, Washington.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age'” – Matthew 28:18-20

Barbed Wire Fence

A barbed wire fence from a farm house in Sumner Washington. That’s all I have to say about that.

“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come” – Matthew 24:42

Flowers and Fence

Some more flowers from Mount Vernon, Washington. In the original photo I had captured some guys pot belly on the very left edge of the photo which I thought was funny but distracting. All you could see was the belly. No face, arms, or feet.

“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory” – Matthew 24:30

Just Missed It

There’s this street I’ve driven by a bunch of times lined by cherry trees that I’ve often thought I need to come back when the trees are blooming. Last Sunday there was a break in the rain, which we’ve had a lot of lately, so I grabbed my gear and headed out to that cherry blossom street. Unfortunately I was about a week too late. Maybe next year or even in the fall. I’ll be back…

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” – Matthew 11:28-30

The Phorce

Have you ever driven or walked by something and had the intense desire to photograph it even though you don’t really have time or shouldn’t stop? Well I’m calling that the “phorce” (make sure to pay me a royalty if you want to use that phrase 🙂 ). Here’s an example:

I was driving around Kauai with the family. I have two kids under 3 who are usually pretty good in the car, however, there are times when the dark-side creeps in where they get overtired and can’t fall asleep. Then you know that the nice peaceful drive is about to turn into mass chaos. It becomes and Indy 500 race to get them home before you go insane with all the crying (they should really have a special lane on highways for situations like this). Knowing we were almost to the point of no return I spotted two old wooden wheels along the fenced entrance to a farm. The phorce was strong with this one but the sanity of my wife and me was at stake so I passed it up. As I got further down the road I thought to myself I may never come here again so I hit the brakes and turned around. I just couldn’t pass it up. My wife graciously stayed in the car with the kids so as a thank you a sat in back with them and did my best to fight off the dark-side. I won a couple rounds but in the end I lost the fight. Sometimes there’s only so many silly faces you can do. It was worth it though.

The End of Fall

There’s about one week when all the trees turn bright red along a road I like to check out each fall. It makes a pretty spectacular scene especially with all the fallen leaves on the road. The only drawback is that by the time these trees turn red I know the fall colors are pretty much over. It’s a little sad since the fall is probably my favorite season and it’s hard to see it go. I may even shed a little tear in remembrance of all the good times I had this fall. Ok there was no tear shedding but we had some nice fall colors this year.

Years in the Making

Every year for the last 4 years we’ve driven from Washington to Montana to visit family. Each time I’ve seen this barn and wanted to take a picture but we were either in a hurry or with other people and couldn’t stop. This last May I made a note of exactly were the barn was so on the way back from Montana to Washington I made sure to stop and finally take some shots.

From the Roadside

The drive from Washington to Montana has many scenic spots. You just got to keep your eyes open and be ready to pull over. This was a good spot because there was a little bit of a shoulder and being a two lane road with a ditch on both sides there wasn’t any other place to park.

Gravel Road

I like road shots and wood fence shots. So why not combine them both.
