The Pilgrim

The Pilgrim is a replica tall ship docked in the Dana Point Harbor since 1981. It is open for tours and you can even stay overnight. I did so as a kid and had a great time. Arrr matey.

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent – John 17:3

Shipwreck of the Peter Iredale

This is all that is left of the Peter Iredale which went aground on October 26, 1906 at the Clatsop Spit in Oregon. There were no casualties and the ship was actually pretty intact but it got stuck in the sand so most of it was sold for scrap. If you’re interested you can read more about it here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Iredale

Chetzemoka

On my way to the Point Wilson Lighthouse I spotted this little boat on the sand quite a ways from the water. I wondered why it was there and not in the water. Upon further inspection I realized why. The bottom of the boat was missing. I’ve heard of glass bottom boats but a no bottom boat. That would make for a real short boat ride.

Lakeside Sailboat

Last May I was cruising by Flathead Lake near the town of Lakeside, Montana when I noticed this bright orange sailboat floating all by itself. It was a pretty gray day so the boat’s bright orange color easily caught my attention. There was no way I was going to pass up taking a photo especially with the mountains in the distance. Luckily I pulled over at just the right spot because there was a public park with access to the shore. As I was taking photos my peaceful scene was almost interrupted by some teenagers skipping rocks and being obnoxious. Fortunately I was able to tune them out and enjoy the scene. Whoever was staying on the boat was either really lonely or pretty excited at having the lake all to themselves. What a view!
