Shipwreck of the Peter Iredale

This is all that is left of the Peter Iredale which went aground on October 26, 1906 at the Clatsop Spit in Oregon. There were no casualties and the ship was actually pretty intact but it got stuck in the sand so most of it was sold for scrap. If you’re interested you can read more about it here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Iredale

“but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved” – Matthew 24:13

Shipwrecked Sunset

I camped at Fort Stevens, Oregon last weekend. Pretty cool place with tons of bike riding trails, old military structures, and even a shipwreck (Peter Iredale). Pretty awesome.

“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'” – Matthew 19:26

Narrows Park

Here’s one of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge from the Narrows Park. I’ve been meaning to check out that park for some time and last weekend I was over in the Gig Harbor area so I made a quick stop. The weather conditions weren’t very good but I’m not in that area too often so I made the best of it. If you haven’t been that way in a while the toll is now up to $6.

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows” – Matthew 10:29-31

Westport Beach Overlook

We’ve had a bunch of rainy and overcast days lately and yesterday we finally got some sun. We couldn’t pass it up so we headed to Westport, Washington. We hadn’t been there before so it was fun to do some exploring. We took a stroll on the paved path in Westport Light State Park. It follows the coastline and has a couple of overlooks like the one pictured below. Also, if you are into surfing there was a nice surf spot just outside of the harbor. Way too cold for me.

“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves” – Matthew 10:16

Driftwood Sunrise

Here’s a sunrise shot from Kauai I took back in 2014 at Lydgate State Park. It was nice shooting the sunrise on the beach in shorts and flip flops. Not too many days you can do that in the Pacific Northwest.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” – Matthew 7:21

Hoodie Sunset

Here’s one from back in December 2014 at Picnic Point, Washington. I was photographing the Olympic Mountains at sunset about ready to pack things up when a guy in a hoodie walked up to the shore to check out the sunset. I thought I might as well include him in a shot. I do remember that I had to hop across a couple of streams to get where I was which is normally not a problem except I was feeling kind of nauseous that day. Luckily I successfully made my leaps without losing my lunch. A win win.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” – Matthew 7:13-14

Tide Pool Sunset

One of the many cool things about Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, Oregon are the tide pools that you’ll find when the tide is low. There is tons of sea life which is always fun for the kids and they make for cool subjects at sunset.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” – Matthew 6:19-21

Haystack Sunset

Here’s one from Cannon Beach, Oregon taken over the 4th of July. We camped at the only campground in Cannon Beach which happens to be privately owned called Wright’s For Camping. It was really clean and a nice spot to camp. The only problem was that our camping spot was right next to the road so make sure you look at a campground map before you book a spot.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” – Matthew 5:16

Shipwrecks Sunrise

Here’s one from a trip to Kauai we made last year. It’s always nice getting up for sunrise when it’s warm out. Makes it a little easier to get out of bed.

“Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the LORD’s anger” – Zephaniah 2:3

Haystack Reflection

Here’s one of Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, Oregon. I took this while making my way down the beach during sunset. This was before I realized there were a million other people doing the same thing (they were more to the left). It was still pretty cool despite the crowds.

“Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.” – Hosea 4:14
