Memorial Day

To all Vets, thank for your service and sacrifice.

This is from the Isle of Flags at the Spring Canyon Cemetery near Lake Roosevelt Washington.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” – John 15:3

On the Vine

Scenes from early morning exploring I did a few weeks ago. This is from a small farm in Sumner, Washington.

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” – Matthew 24:35

Flowers and Fence

Some more flowers from Mount Vernon, Washington. In the original photo I had captured some guys pot belly on the very left edge of the photo which I thought was funny but distracting. All you could see was the belly. No face, arms, or feet.

“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory” – Matthew 24:30

Mossy Forest

Here’s another one from the Rain Forest Loop Trail in Mount Rainier National Park (Carbonado entrance). I’m not sure if the trail has been cleared yet but it would be a fun one to do with kids as it’s only .5 miles.

“For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” – Matthew 24:27

Fields of Tulips

Here’s one from the tulip fields from Mount Vernon, Washington. Hope you had a chance to check them out this year (if you’re in the area).

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” – Matthew 24:14

Shipwreck of the Peter Iredale

This is all that is left of the Peter Iredale which went aground on October 26, 1906 at the Clatsop Spit in Oregon. There were no casualties and the ship was actually pretty intact but it got stuck in the sand so most of it was sold for scrap. If you’re interested you can read more about it here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Iredale

“but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved” – Matthew 24:13

Mayfield Lake

For mother’s day my wife asked me to find a lake with a view that we hadn’t been to before. So I got out my trusty Google map and searched for nearby state parks on lakes (I wanted to get my money’s worth out of my Discover Pass) and found Ike Kinswa State Park on Mayfield Lake. The sun was out, the scenery was cool, and the wife was happy.

“For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted” – Matthew 23:12

Popcorn Blossom

I’m not sure what type of tree this is but you see them all over the place in Washington. I think their blossoms look like popcorn.

“‘Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?’ Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” – Matthew 22:36-39

Daffodils

Tulips get all the attention this time of year in the Pacific Northwest but don’t forget about those daffodils. Enjoy those golden beauties.

“For many are called, but few are chosen” – Matthew 22-14

Trail Through The Rain Forest Loop

Here’s one of the Rainforest Loop Trail near the Carbonado entrance to Mt Rainier. I had two of my little ones with me and the older one recently heard of a family member being chased by a bear (they were okay) so the whole time she was asking if there were any bears which of course scared the younger one. It was kind of funny but it made it hard to take photos with a kid hanging on my leg.

“Jesus replied, ‘Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea, and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer'” – Matthew 21:21-22
