Westport Beach Overlook

We’ve had a bunch of rainy and overcast days lately and yesterday we finally got some sun. We couldn’t pass it up so we headed to Westport, Washington. We hadn’t been there before so it was fun to do some exploring. We took a stroll on the paved path in Westport Light State Park. It follows the coastline and has a couple of overlooks like the one pictured below. Also, if you are into surfing there was a nice surf spot just outside of the harbor. Way too cold for me.

“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves” – Matthew 10:16

White River Cabin

Here’s a shot I took last summer of a cabin in the White River Campground located in Mount Rainier National Park. I’m not sure if you can stay in it or if it is for park rangers only. Anyway, there are some pretty nice hikes in this area. One of the trails can get you to the summit of Mount Rainier via the Inter Glacier. I’ve made it as far as Camp Curtis at around 9,000ft. Definitely some awesome views if you’re up for it.

“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few'” – Matthew 9:37

Kilauea Lighthouse

I’ve been to the Kilauea Lighthouse a couple times now but I have yet to pay the money to actually go on the lighthouse grounds and check it out. I guess I’m too cheap but the vantage point from the parking lot is pretty cool. Tons of birds and I think during the winter some pretty big waves come ripping right through here.

“But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners” – Matthew 9:13

Driftwood Sunrise

Here’s a sunrise shot from Kauai I took back in 2014 at Lydgate State Park. It was nice shooting the sunrise on the beach in shorts and flip flops. Not too many days you can do that in the Pacific Northwest.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” – Matthew 7:21

Hoodie Sunset

Here’s one from back in December 2014 at Picnic Point, Washington. I was photographing the Olympic Mountains at sunset about ready to pack things up when a guy in a hoodie walked up to the shore to check out the sunset. I thought I might as well include him in a shot. I do remember that I had to hop across a couple of streams to get where I was which is normally not a problem except I was feeling kind of nauseous that day. Luckily I successfully made my leaps without losing my lunch. A win win.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” – Matthew 7:13-14

White Out

When I was snowshoeing around up at Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park the Tatoosh Mountains were bouncing in and out of some fog. It didn’t really clear up until I was driving down the mountain trying to make it out before the gate closed. So, no pictures of the Tatoosh Mountains this time.

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets” – Matthew 7:12
