Forest Service Road 7012

We were up in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest just outside of Mount Rainier last weekend on a Christmas Tree hunt. If you’ve ever cut down a tree in the forest you know that they are more like Charlie Brown Trees than ones you find at a Christmas Tree Lot/Farm. Nevertheless, I think the one we got was pretty good. The roads were pretty nice and the sun was out so it made for a nice family adventure. Anyway, here’s a picture of the sun poking through the trees along Forest Road 7012.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot” – Matthew 5:13

Old Farm Structures

Here are some old farm structures taken near my friend’s wheat farm in Eastern Washington. I would guess that the building straight ahead with the sunken roof and the barn to the right were the original buildings and then the other two structures were added on. I’m sure the rodents and snakes are enjoying the extra space now.

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” – Matthew 5:8

From the Start

I’m ashamed to admit that I didn’t head up to the Paradise side of Mount Rainier this last summer, which is my favorite side of the mountain. We did go to some other cool places but we just ran out of weekends I guess. Anyway, this is from the start of a hike I did in the Summer of 2014 up to Camp Muir. It was a nice and sunny July morning when we did the hike. It was a long haul up to Camp Muir at 10,000 feet. I think it took about 4 hours to go 4 miles but it was awesome.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” – Matthew 5:6

View From Logan Pass

I’d like to say that I hiked deep into the back country and found a secret spot where few humans have ever set foot to get this photo but actually, it’s from the Logan Pass Visitors Center Parking lot. The hardest part about getting this shot was finding a parking spot. Anyway that’s Going-to-the-Sun Mountain on the left located within Glacier National Park, Montana.

“Jesus answered, ‘It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” – Matthew 4:4

Naches Peak Loop Wildflowers

Here are some wildflowers from the Naches Peak Loop Trail in Mount Rainier National Park I took at the beginning of the Summer. This is just before I ran into a swarm of skeeters. Until the next time my archenemy.

“‘These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts; do not plot evil against each other, and do not love to swear falsely. I hate all this,’ declares the Lord” – Zechariah 8:16-17

My Les Paul

I was told by a relative once that every guitarist needs a Strat, Tele, and Les Paul. Well I’m not a huge Strat fan but I do like Teles and Les Pauls. A few years ago I found a 2009 Gibson Les Paul Standard Traditional on Craigslist. It looks a lot better than I play but I definitely enjoy it. It’s hard to put down. In case you’re wondering the traditionals are not chambered like the newer standards so they weigh about 9 to 10 lbs.

“Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary! Praise him in the sky, which testifies to his strength!
Praise him for his mighty acts! Praise him for his surpassing greatness! Praise him with the blast of the horn! Praise him with the lyre and the harp! Praise him with the tambourine and with dancing! Praise him with stringed instruments and the flute! Praise him with loud cymbals! Praise him with clanging cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” – Psalm 150:1-6

Mount Oberlin

Mount Oberlin in Glacier National Park, Montana stands at 8,179 feet and can be easily seen from the Logan Pass Visitors Center. I’ve read that there’s a trail to the summit that’s not too difficult. Maybe I’ll check it out the next time I’m there and the kids area little older. The photo below is from the Hidden Lake Trail which is a nice short hike with great views.

“This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other'” – Zechariah 7:9-10

Isle of Flags

Last Memorial Day we camped over in the Spring Canyon Campground on the shores of Lake Roosevelt. To get to the campground you drive by the Spring Canyon Cemetery and one of the days we were there we headed out to check out the Grand Coulee Dam. As we passed the Spring Canyon Cemetery we noticed America Flags set up all over the cemetery. I didn’t know about it at the time but each year they place flags all over the cemetery as a tribute to local veterans called the Isle of Flags. I thought today would be a good day to post this picture since today is Veterans Day. Thanks for protecting our freedom.

Disappointment’s What You Make It

I sat in this spot for probably half an hour. Waiting for the right moment when I could get a shot of the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse with no people in it. It seemed as though right when there’d be a gap in people someone would stand right in front of the lighthouse. All I needed was a measly 2 seconds. I almost got it but you’ll notice a couple people just to the right of the lighthouse. They’re pretty small in the picture so it wasn’t a big deal. But still…

“‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty” – Zechariah 4:6

Alexander Falls

Located just before Whistler Olympic Park is Alexander Falls. You don’t to do any hiking for this one. You just park and walk a few feet to a lookout and there’s the falls. I didn’t spend too much time there but I’m sure there’s a trail to the bottom of the falls somewhere. Check it out if you’re in the area.
