Not So Hidden Lake

You know how they changed the name of Mt McKinley. What about changing the name of this lake. It’s called Hidden Lake but it can be seen after a short 1.5 mile hike from the Logan Pass Visitor Center in Glacier National Park, Montana. There’s even a nice wooden boardwalk for part of the trail that takes you right to it and now it’s pictured below. I think it should be called Not So Hidden Lake 🙂

“Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea” – Micah 7:18-19

Barn Seed Rows

On our way home from Montana we made a stop at my friend’s wheat farm in Eastern Washington. The summer crop had been harvested back in July and they had just finished planting the winter crop. I hope it’s a good one.

“But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.” – Micah 7:7

Finger Lake

Here’s one from Finger Lake which is located about 20 miles outside of Whitefish, Montana. The trail to the lake is about 1.5 miles and has some ups and downs but nothing too hard. This is one that my 3 year old hiked to give you an idea. Speaking of her, I was setting up for this shot and a few minutes before that I had told her to be careful when stepping on rocks because they can be slippery. Sure enough a few minutes later she stepped on a rock and face planted in the cold lake water. Some things you just got to learn from experience.

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” – Micah 6:8

Shores of Lake Roosevelt

Last May we ventured out to Lake Roosevelt in Eastern Washington. At the time the lake had yet to be filled to its summer-time levels so after shooting the sunrise from a higher elevation point I went wandering around the beach looking for stuff to shoot. It was about 6 AM and nobody was up yet so I had time to kill. There were a bunch of these wrecking balls used as anchors for marking off the swimming area which made for interesting subjects.

“All the nations may walk in the name of their gods, but we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever” – Micah 4:5

Green Lake

Here’s one from Green Lake in Whistler, Canada. The lake gets its emerald-green color from glacier fed rivers that empty into it, which makes it very scenic and also very cold. It would have to be super hot out for me to get in which it wasn’t at the time I was there so I was fine just taking a picture of it. In the photo below you can see the Blackcomb and Whistler ski mountains in the distance. Whistler is on the right and Blackcomb is just to the left of it.

“Look, the Lord is coming out of his dwelling place! He will descend and march on the earth’s mountaintops! The mountains will disintegrate beneath him, and the valleys will be split in two. The mountains will melt like wax in a fire, the rocks will slide down like water cascading down a steep slope” – Micah 1:3-4

Along the Hidden Lake Overlook Trail

I just got back from Montana where I headed to Logan Pass in Glacier National Park. It’s been about 3 years since I’ve been to the pass. The last couple years I’ve been there it’s been early July and the pass had been closed because of snow. Anyway, we did a 3-mile hike from the visitors center to Hidden Lake Overlook. We had great hiking weather and there was a little bit of snow left over from a dusting they got a few days before. The views were amazing. Check that hike out if you get a chance.

“The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the Lord has said, even among the survivors whom the Lord calls” – Joel 2:31-32

Brandywine Falls Forest

I snapped this shot while hiking the trail to Brandywine Falls in Whistler, Canada. I thought the light was interesting and all those humps in the ground. What are they? How did they get there? Another one of life’s mysteries.

“But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” – Amos 5:24

North Head Lighthouse

Located in Washington just two miles from the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse is the North Head Lighthouse. The lighthouse is easy to get to with plenty of parking (unlike the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse). The path to the lighthouse is fairly flat and you pass by the lighthouse keepers house which is now a vacation rental. This would be a great place to stay and head out to the lighthouse in the early morning or late at night to get some cool shots. Don’t forget to pass this house of light up if you head down to Cape Disappointment.

“Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity” – Joel 2:13
