Haystack Reflection

Here’s one of Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, Oregon. I took this while making my way down the beach during sunset. This was before I realized there were a million other people doing the same thing (they were more to the left). It was still pretty cool despite the crowds.

“Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.” – Hosea 4:14

Cape Disappointment Lighthouse

The Cape Disappointment Lighthouse is located on the Southern border of Washington near the Columbia River. If you do go there just be aware that the parking lot is pretty small. We had a to wait a while before we could finally find a spot. From there it’s a short hike which is fairly steep but the steepest part is paved so it’s not bad. You can also park down by Waikiki Beach and hike up. Anyway, when I was there it was overcast so I decided to process this photo a little differently.

“Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand” – Daniel 12:10

Brandywine Falls

Here’s one of Brandywine Falls in Whistler, Canada. The falls are pretty easy to get to from the vantage point I took the picture below from. I think it was about 10 minutes from the parking lot and that’s at a 3 year old’s pace. I really wanted to get down to the bottom to photograph the falls but I didn’t know if there was a trail and it probably wouldn’t have been a good idea to take a pregnant wife and 3 year old bushwacking. So, I kept it safe and photograph the falls from up above where I could see a nice rainbow.

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him. I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king” – Daniel 2:20-23

Grand Coulee Dam

The Grand Coulee Dam was built from 1933 to 1942 and at the time was the first structure built larger than the Great Pyramids. The dam is located on Lake Roosevelt in Eastern Washington and is pretty amazing to see in person. If you’re there in the summer stick around after it gets dark for a laser light show they do on the walls of the dam. The drive out there from Western Washington is pretty amazing with the canyons you go through. You even pass by Dry Falls which is believed to have been the greatest waterfall ever to have existed in the world.

“and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land. I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. There will be one king over all of them and they will never again be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms'” – Ezekiel 37:21-22

Whistler Seaplane

Here’s one from Green Lake in Whistler, Canada where you can tour the area by seaplane. There was one tour that I was tempted to do which made a couple alpine lake stops. I wasn’t able to do it but it sounded amazing. I think most of the tours where at midday but you can request a custom tours. A sunset alpine lake tour would be awesome. It probably would cost quite a bit of coin but I’m sure it would be worth it.

“Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath[a] enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.'” – Ezekiel 37:4-6

Spring Canyon Marina Park

I was browsing some photography videos on youtube a few months ago and came across one by Steve Perry (not the singer from Journey) for getting rid of unwanted sun glare. Basically you take your photo, or photos if you’re bracketing, with the sun and then you take another set of photos blocking out the sun with your thumb or fist. You then process them the same and do some layer masking Ju-Jitsu in photoshop to mask away the sun glare. It was one of those ideas where I said to myself why didn’t I think of it before. Anyway, I applied the technique to this sunrise photo taking at the Spring Canyon Marina in Lake Roosevelt, Washington.

“As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land.” – Ezekiel 34:12-13

Trekking for Wildflowers

Here’s another one from the Naches Loop Trail in Mount Rainier National Park. I was there at the end of June and the wildflowers were a plenty. It was awesome. It’s too bad they don’t last longer.

“Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?'” – Ezekiel 33:11

Fitzsimmons Mountain Range

I was just up in Whistler, Canada last week and it was a pretty awesome place. When I went to Yosemite a couple years ago I thought of it as an outdoor Disneyland. Well Whistler seemed more of an outdoor Disney World. Tons of biking, climbing, hiking, and rafting. Pretty much anything outdoors you’d like to do they have it. Check it out if you get a chance. Winter or Summer you won’t be disappointed. This photo is of the Fitzimmons Mountain Range with the Overlord Glacier on the right.
