At Days End

Here’s another one from my friend’s farm in Eastern Washington. The light was fading fast but luckily I found this tractor before the light was gone.

Naches Trail

You know you have a three year old daughter when you see smooth rocks in the middle of a trail and the fixer-upper song the trolls sing in Frozen goes through your head. Quite embarrassing but my wife mentioned the same thing happened to her so at least I’m not the only one.

This is from the Naches Trail in the Federation Forest State Park, Washington. A nearby trail kiosk mentioned that the smoothness of the rocks came from them being part of an old river bed.

“When you cry out for help, let your collection of idols save you! The wind will carry all of them off, a mere breath will blow them away. But whoever takes refuge in me will inherit the land and possess my holy mountain” – Isaiah 57:13

Wheat Road

A few weeks ago my family and I spent some time at a friend’s wheat farm in Eastern Washington. I was only there for less than 24 hours so I didn’t get to do as much photography as I would have liked. After finishing dad duties the only evening I was there I rushed out to capture the sunset. Luckily, I was able to capture some of the color before it was gone.

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” – Isaiah 55:10-11

Posts at Browns Point

Here’s one from last year at Browns Point Lighthouse near Tacoma, Washington. The style of the lighthouse isn’t my favorite but the grounds and views are pretty nice. You can even rent out the fully restored lighthouse cottage located on the property where you get to be an honorary lighthouse keeper. According to the website the keeper’s duties include raising and lowering the flag and laundering your linens. I’ve always wanted to launder my linens. Sign me up 🙂

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?” – Isaiah 58:6

Greenlees Grove

Greenlees Grove is located in Federation Forest State Park off of Highway 410. I’ve driven by this small state park many times on my way to Mount Rainier National Park and the surrounding area but I’ve never stopped there. Well this past Mother’s Day my wife wanted to do a hike so we headed out to this place. We started on a trail from the parking lot that took us down by the White River and the trail was pretty overgrown and in desperate need of clearing. There were fallen trees everywhere and it was a little hard to pick up the trail. We eventually made it back up a hill to a nice loop trail that goes by Greenlees Grove that has some pretty impressive trees. I thought it was cool and I just read that there’s a little Hobbit Village there. I will for sure head back there to check it out.

“This is what the Lord says: ‘Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed'” – Isaiah 56:1

28 Miles of Creek

Here’s another one from Twentyeight Mile Creek just outside of Mount Rainier National Park. It’s off of Highway 410 and Forest Road 70 but really there are tons of places to go explorer in that area so check it out if you are looking for somewhere to get lost. Just make sure you can find your way back 🙂

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed” – Isaiah 53:5

O’er the Ramparts

I took this shot last summer on the Rampart Ridge Trail in Mount Rainier National Park. The hike starts in Longmire and makes its way up switchbacks to the top of Rampart Ridge with some great views. I do remember there being some spots where the skeeters were pretty bad especially in the nice and shady spots so beware. Great hike though so check it out if you’re looking for a hike in that area (I think it’s about 4 miles)

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!'” – Isaiah 52:7

Twentyeight Mile Creek

I had driven by Twentyeight Mile Creek a bunch of times over the years but never had the opportunity to stop for a shot. This last weekend we were looking for something to do so we loaded up the kids and headed out there. To get to it you head out on Highway 410 to Mt Rainier then turn on forest road 70 and drive for a couple miles. If you continue on this road there’s a nice hike you can do to Greenwater Lakes. If you want some more mileage you can keep hiking to Echo Lake where there’s a pretty cool waterfall along the way.

“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon” – Isaiah 55:6-7
