Greenwater Lakes Trail-side Waterfall

Do you know what’s hard to do? Try taking an hdr of a waterfall with a hyper dog running around you. My dog gets a little excited when he’s some place new and I had him on leash next to me but he kept trying to chew every stick and branch in sight. Eventually I just dropped the leash and let him play in the water out of the frame. Luckily he didn’t knock my tripod over although he came pretty close. If he did, well let’s just say he wouldn’t be going on any hikes anymore…

Just a Little Wider

I usually bring a couple lenses when I’m hiking around but I wanted to see if I could get by with just one. I just bought the Nikon 24-70mm of CraigsList so I thought I’d try it out on this hike to Greenwater Lakes. For the most part it was fine but for this shot I could have gone a little wider.

First Responders

The World Trade Center Memorial is definitely something that should not be missed if you’re in New York City. The footprints of each building have been converted into waterfalls and it was kind of eerie standing right where a 100+ story building once stood. This part of it has the names of the First Responders from the New York City Fire Department that lost their lives. The memorial is a very sad but good reminder of what happened because it’s something that should never be forgotten.

Green Water Lake

This is one of the two Green Water Lakes found on the Green Water Lakes trail which goes along the far shore seen in this picture. We took a detour to get to this spot which made for a nice lunch stop. Also, the Green Water Lakes trail is outside of Mount Rainer National Park so if you’re looking for a hike to do with your dog here’s one you can do. Just remember, no fouling on the trail.

Back on the Trail

I went for my first hike of the season last weekend on the Green Water Lakes Trail just outside of Mount Rainier National Park. I like snowshoeing and all during the winter but it was nice to get out on a hike.

The hike to Green Water Lakes is only about 2 miles one way. If you keep going for about 6 or 7 miles you’ll hit Echo Lake, which is cool to camp at.

For Boston

Boston is a great American city with a lot of history and it’s extremely terrible what happened there a couple weeks ago. I was there a few months back and really enjoyed it. I took a tour around the city along the Freedom Walk which I highly recommend doing. You’ll learn a lot of early American History while getting some exercise. Double bonus.

Head Shot

They say the camera adds a couple pounds but something tells me that doesn’t concern this portly fella’.
