Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse

Here’s a lighthouse just outside of the main downtown area of Portland, Maine. A cheap way to get to the lighthouse from downtown is to catch the public bus to Southern Maine Community College and then it’s a short walk to the lighthouse.

Interesting fact: I heard that Bruce Springsteen records in Portland and when he does you can sometimes catch at impromptu gigs at local coffee shops. I haven’t verified this personally but my source, a long time resident and tour bus driver, seemed pretty legit.

Something Different

After getting a shot of the Seattle with my zoom lens I decided to try something different and use my wide angle. This is up at Kerry Park in Seattle, Washington.

Old And New

When we was in New York City I tried to take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty but the lines were really long and I didn’t have time to wait so instead we went on a harbor cruise. I got some good views of the Statue of Liberty and the city. Another plus was that it was narrated so I learned some interesting facts which I’ve since forgotten. Anyway, this is the Brooklyn Bridge and the new Freedom Tower is on the left.

Lunch Stop

There’s a very nice park above the Portland Head Lighthouse in Maine where I stopped for a lunch break. It was pretty windy but it was cool to watch the sail boats go by. Just beyond the sailboat on the left is another lighthouse way out there. It looked old but I was kind of far and I didn’t feel up for swimming out there so it was hard to tell.

City Lights

I’ve only lived in Washington a couple of years and once I heard about Kerry Park I wanted to check it out. Well a couple of weeks ago I was in Seattle (I don’t go there that often) and I thought today is the day. I got up to Kerry Park about an hour and half before sunset and staked out a spot. It was a little cold but definitely worth the wait. I even saw a DeLorean cruise up when I was waiting for sunset. Roads…where we’re going we don’t need roads.

Glass Jungle

I didn’t catch the name of this exhibit at the Chihuly Glass Museum in Seattle but it was really cool. I wanted to get up close but not too close because I didn’t want to accidentally hit one of the pieces causing it to crash into another like a domino effect. I can be a kind of a klutz sometimes so I was extra careful.
