Western Red Cedar

This was taken in the Grove of the Patriarchs in Mount Rainier National Park. This tree was massive. My wide-angle lens makes it look smaller than it is but it must have been at least 10 feet in diameter.

Silver Falls

I hiked from Ohanapecosh to the Grove of the Patriarchs in Mount Rainier National Park last June and along the way is Silver Falls. Quite a sight in June with the amount of water that was coming off it.

An Unexpected Reflection

I don’t know how many times I’ve been to Reflection Lake up at Paradise in Mt Rainier National Park trying to get a reflection of Mt Rainier. I think you have to get there early in the morning for a good one which I never seem to be able to do. However, last week I was finally able to get a good reflection but it wasn’t at Reflection Lake. Where you might ask? I can’t tell you. I’m kidding. It was at Bench Lake which is a smaller more protected lake along the Snow Lake Trail. I didn’t even know about Bench Lake and its reflective awesomeness when I headed out for Snow Lake so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it.

Grove of the Patriarchs

There’s a nice loop trail of about 5 miles in Mt Rainier National Park that you can do from Ohanapecosh to the Grove of the Patriarchs. Part of the trail goes by Silver Falls which is pretty cool.

Along the Silver Falls Trail

There’s no shortage of waterfalls when hiking in Mt Rainier National Park.

Pray Lake

The Two Medicine Campground in Glacier Park Montana borders Pray Lake. I was driving over to a ranger talk while camping there and I wasn’t going to bring my camera because it was kind of overcast and rainy. However, as I was driving I saw an awesome rainbow developing so I ran back to get my camera. By the time I got to the spot where the rainbow was it was gone but the lighting was awesome over Pray Lake and the distant mountains.

Down By The Lake

I took this shot in the morning before heading out on the Trail of The Coeur d’Alenes on my bike.
