Grudge Match

This is from the polar bear enclosure at the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, Washington. I went into the exhibit twice. The first time I went in I was lucky enough to catch them feeding and the second time these two brutes were wrestling. I think they are about 9 feet tall and 1,000 pounds. I was sure glad to be behind the glass.

Shores of Kihei

It’s been a couple years since I’ve visited Hawaii but hopefully I’ll be able to get back there soon. Such a scenic place to visit. I especially recommend heading there around February which is when the Humpback Whales are around. It’s really cool driving around and seeing one of them breach. Another cool thing is that if you dunk your head while swimming not far from shore you can hear them “talking” to each other.

Pondering

Here’s a Tufted Puffin from the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma Washington. I wonder what a Tufted Puffin thinks about…

Arctic Fox

This squirmy little arctic fox from the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, Washington was pacing all around its enclosure. It finally settled for a second to get a drink of water so I fired away.

Bridge Over the Puyallup River

This bridge is used by trains to get over the Puyallup River in Washington state. You can find it at one end of the Puyallup River walk which is a nice paved trail that follows the river.

Puyallup View of Mt Rainier

Whenever someone comes up to visit I like to try and make them pronounce Puyallup, which is pretty funny since it’s not pronounced like it looks. Anyway, there’s a paved trail that goes along the Puyallup River that’s pretty nice, which is where I found this view of Mt Rainier.

Discovery Park Lighthouse

Discovery Park is a cool park located in Seattle. There are a bunch of trails and you can get down to the beach where you’ll find this lighthouse. I remember a couple of years ago a mountain lion was caught there, which is weird because the park is surrounded by water on one side and houses and streets on the other. Maybe it was somebody’s pet…

Sun Bear

It seems like I’m always at the zoo at nap time, which usually doesn’t make for a good picture. Fortunately this Sun Bear at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle was having a good time just hanging out posing for pictures. Thanks for being awake!

Company Car

It may not get you anywhere fast but you can be sure no one will want to get in your way.

This is from my friend’s family wheat farm in Eastern Washington. I was kind of hesitant to get up for sunrise because it looked kind of overcast but it burned off so I’m glad I dragged myself out of bed.

Mt St Helens

Mt. St. Helens is an impressive place to visit. Everything that was in the path of the blast is still barren with tons of snapped trees covering nearby hills. Talk about power.
